Scottish Tablet Proves to be the Favourite Homecoming Sweet

Laura Mackie, HND Hospitality Management student at Perth College, is serving up Butter Tablet for her Burns themed evening at Scotland and Northern Ireland's award winning college restaurant. She says “ I wanted to source as much local and national produce as possible for my theme night to help promote Scottish Companies alongside my Scottish menu”. Glasgow based business Granny Jackson's helped meet her demands for Scottish Butter Tablet which will be served up with coffee.

Jamie Wallace, owner of Granny Jackson's expressed his delight in helping Laura with her project: “I think it's great Laura took the initiative to get in touch with us, and we're only too happy to help. The demand for Scottish Tablet over the past few weeks has been overwhelming in the run up to Burns' Night and the inauguration of Homecoming Scotland 2009. In the last two weeks alone, we have sold over 100kg of tablet – ten times more than our sales last year!” Granny Jackson's also supplied the newest Scottish sweet on the market, Saltire Rock, which with its Iron Brew flavour and Saltire flag design are sure to help accentuate the Scottish theme for the meal.

Gartcosh business 'Tea Shop on the Loch' situated at Lochend Garden Centre can also vouch on the power and popularity of the favourite Homecoming Sweet. The Tea Shop's owner, Susan Dalziel, explains: “We’ve been drawing in the crowds and become pretty famous for our tablet. Our customers love the tablet with their drink and keep returning. Most customers buy a couple of bags to take home too.”

Granny Jackson's will be exhibiting at Glasgow's SECC from Sunday 25th to Tuesday 27th January at Scotland's Speciality Food Show and demonstrating the profitability of Scottish Butter Tablet.

Worldwide Delivery for our Scottish Sweets

Today's been a day of orders from UK, Australia, New Zealand and USA. Last official delivery day before Christmas is this Friday, 5th December, but I have faith in parcels being received in time up to 13th December. The Moffat Toffee, Saltire Rock, Edinburgh Rock, Scottish Taster Pack and Gift Boxed Scottish Butter Tablet are the most popular gifts to leave the shelves for foreign shores... Shame I couldn't pack myself into a box and ship myself away for a wee holiday!!!

The Scottish Sweetie

The Scottish Sweetie

I got a treat the other day.
It was Sent to my door 1st Class.
So I opened it up,
And to my delight
It was a present from my folks.

I got a thrill when I looked inside,
It was a tartan gift box which read:
Scottish Butter Tablet,
My ever favourite sweetie,
It was a reminder of my home.

I got an urge to open the box
It was easier than I thought
Holding on to one of the bars
I opened it up in seconds
It was a dream to inhale its sweet buttery scent.

I'm eating the bar of tablet now,
I really couldn't wait!
That sweet and gritty taste of Scotland
Bringing back lots of memories
It was delicious, but alas all done!

Oh wait, there's more...
All my favourite Scottish Sweeties!
Edinburgh Rock, Macaroon,
Highland Toffee and Saltire Rock
This is such a brilliant present
Mum, dad... I love you, this is great!
